Attendance at Five Lanes Primary

Mrs Robinson is our Attendance Officer                                                                Miss Gibson is our Attendance Assistant

At Five Lanes Primary,  we ‘Aim high’ for every child to achieve their full potential and as such, attendance is a huge priority.

Children are encouraged to become an Attendance HERO (Here. Everyday. Ready. On time) and receive certificates and stickers each term for achieving this.

To ensure we maximise attendance throughout the year, children’s attendance is tracked and results are communicated to parents/carers each term.

  • Where children achieve 100% attendance, they will become an Attendance HERO and this will be celebrated in a special assembly in which they will receive a certificate and a sticker.
  • Where children’s attendance has fallen between 90-95%, an amber attendance letter will be sent home.
  • Where children’s attendance has fallen below 90%, we will inform parents/carers via a red attendance letter and may need to discuss this further depending on the circumstances.

If your child is absent from school for any reason, it is vital that you contact us via phone (01132790122 ext. 1) or at  info@fivelanesprimary.co.uk

All absences are monitored by our school Attendance Officer Mrs Robinson alongside Miss Gibson our Attendance Assistant and Mrs Mercer our Headteacher.

In line with our Safeguarding Policy, if your child is not in school you will be contacted by a member of the team. If contact cannot be made, a home visit may be carried out.

Holidays / Extended Leave

  • Holidays in term time will not be authorised.
  • Only absences under exceptional circumstances will be authorised.
  • If you wish to take a family holiday or extended leave in term time or you need to take your child out of school for any reason, you must complete an absence form. These are available from the school office.
  • If you are planning a holiday or travelling out of the country, you must also provide proof of travel and booking.
  • We will follow the Leeds City Council guidelines when monitoring all absences.
