French at Five Lanes!

Intent Statement

At Five Lanes, we aim to develop an interesting and thriving MFL curriculum to encourage children's learning of languages. We follow the Euro Stars French planning to introduce French from Year 3 to Year 6 and to also develop the understanding of its culture in an enjoyable and stimulating classroom environment. Following the National Curriculum we aim to embed the essential skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking through enthusiastic French lessons and extra curriculum activities. We also hope to gain children's understanding of the similarities and differences of the French culture such as food, transport, sports, education and families. Delivering an exciting curriculum we hope children learn and embrace understanding a new language. Overall, at Five Lanes we are hoping to deliver a more fundamental MFL curriculum as there are many benefits of learning a new language for children.
