Homework Expectations

Homework expectations for Year 6

Daily Reading

Children have daily reading and weekly spellings to learn in addition to their weekly arithmetic and weekly spelling books.

Children will have access to books from our school library and will also have access to a wide range of texts on the online reading platform 'MyOn' which is part of the AR scheme. The web address for this website will be given in your child's school diary and a link is available to access in the 'useful websites' tab on the main class web page.

Spellings

Weekly spelling lists go home on Fridays and we complete our mini spelling tests on Fridays. To consolidate spellings and to support children with their knowledge of using and applying spelling rules and patterns, children have a Schofield and Sims spelling work book in which they complete one page each week as homework. These homework books will go home on Mondays and are expected back in school on a Friday. Children also have access to Spelling Shed - log in details are in children's school diaries.

Arithmetic

We  use Schofield and Sims arithmetic books. Children complete sections A and C in school as part of our daily arithmetic sessions, and will complete section B as homework. Books go home on a Monday and are expected back in school on a Friday.

Additional Homework Tasks

Children also have home access to Education City and Freckle. Teachers may set alternative or additional tasks on these platforms.
