School Council

At Five Lanes Primary, our School Council representatives are elected by their peers to represent pupils and their views. The election process introduces pupils to democracy and allows them to feel empowered and involved.

The children are supported by Mrs Falkinder, they are provided with opportunities to participate in school and society and they meet at regular intervals throughout the year. Together, they provide an effective way for pupils to voice their opinions and have their views taken into account in decisions which impact upon them.

The School Council work together positively to support with changes in school that make us all happy. They also organise fun and memorable events for our school community, supporting charities and making a difference.

'At the beginning of the year, I did a speech in front of the whole class to say why I wanted to be a School Council representative. The class voted and I received the most votes. I was so happy. I like going to meetings and planning for special events.' Holly, Year 4.

'We have to go to meetings to plan events and share our ideas. I like choosing competition winners.' Leighton, Year 4.
